Biography
Sevil Zafarmandi is a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Environmental Meteorology at the University of Freiburg. Her work centers on thermal comfort and human health in urban settings, with the goal of developing climate-responsive urban design strategies that enhance resilience and livability. With academic and professional collaborations across Iran, Europe, and the United States, she offers a diverse and interdisciplinary perspective on urban challenges. Sevil's particular interest lies in how people perceive and adapt to heat in cities, and her research contributes to creating healthier and more resilient urban environments.
Research
Her research began with a field-based approach, focusing on adjusting thermal comfort indices using individual variables. It has since evolved into a data-driven framework and is now progressing toward the development of health-promoting urban environments and climate-responsive cities that enhance human well-being.
Current Research Projects
Adaptive Outdoor Thermal Comfort and its application in the design of smart and climate-responsive cities.
