Biography

Dirk Schindler studied Forest Sciences at the University of Freiburg and completed his doctorate in 2004 in the field of meteorology. From 2004 to 2015 he was a member of the scientific staff at the Chair of Environmental Meteorology. In 2013, he habilitated at the University of Freiburg in Environmental Meteorology. In the period 2015 to 2017, he represented the Chair of Environmental Meteorology.

Research

The subject of Dirk Schindler's research are interactions between the Earth's surface and the atmospheric boundary layer. He is currently investigating wind-tree interactions that cause storm damage to trees and forests. Against the background of current climate change, he explores ways to enhance efficiency in the utilization of the available wind resource.
